Privacy Policy

Last updated · June 5, 2026

Effective: May 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Inner Outer Index collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Inner Outer Index website, application, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). If you are a California resident, additional rights are described in the California Privacy Rights section below.

What we collect

We collect the following categories of information.

Information you provide

  • Assessment responses. Your answers to the questions in the Inner Outer Index assessment, including any context fields (such as gender, birth order, or date of birth and the age derived from it) you choose to provide.
  • Email address. When you complete the assessment, we ask for your email address so we can deliver your Report.
  • Communications. If you contact us by email or other means, we receive what you send us.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data. Browser type, device type, operating system, IP address, pages viewed, time spent, and similar technical information. This is collected through standard server logs and analytics infrastructure.
  • Product analytics. We use PostHog (US-hosted) to record a small set of named product events — such as quiz progress, completion, and Report or card views — to understand and improve how the Service is used. PostHog’s automatic activity capture, automatic page-view capture, and session recording are turned off, and we do not send PostHog your email, date of birth, individual answers, trait scores, Report code, or Report contents. See the Cookies Policy for details.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookies Policy for details.

Information from third parties

  • Marketing pixels. If you arrive at the Service through a marketing channel, we may receive limited information from those channels (such as click identifiers) to measure ad performance.

What we do with it

We use the information described above to:

  • Generate your Report
  • Deliver your Report to you and send service-related communications (for example, confirmations, updates, or security notices)
  • Operate, secure, and improve the Service
  • Develop new features, including by analyzing aggregate or de-identified patterns
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
  • Send marketing or promotional messages, where you have consented or where permitted by law (you can opt out of marketing emails at any time)

How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only in the following circumstances.

Service providers and sub-processors. We use third-party providers to operate the Service. These providers receive only the information needed to perform their function, and are contractually limited in how they may use it. Current sub-processors include:

  • Anthropic — provides the AI model that generates parts of your Report. Your assessment responses and derived profile data are sent to Anthropic for processing under its terms.
  • Email delivery provider — delivers the Report to your inbox and sends service communications.
  • Hosting provider — runs the application infrastructure where the Service is deployed.
  • Meta (planned). We do not currently send data to Meta. If we add a Meta advertising pixel in the future, Meta would receive data from it for advertising measurement and audience features. See the Cookies Policy for details on the pixel.

We will update this list as our infrastructure changes.

Legal and safety. We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests from public authorities, protect the rights, property, or safety of Inner Outer Index or others, or enforce our Terms of Service.

Business transfers. If Inner Outer Index is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify users of material changes through the Service.

With your direction. If you choose to share your Report (for example, through a share button), the recipients receive the information you have shared with them.

How long we keep it

We retain your information as long as needed to generate, deliver, and maintain access to your Report, unless you request deletion or we are required to retain it for legal, security, or operational reasons. If you ask us to delete your data, we will do so within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are required or permitted to retain it.

How we protect it

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Service is intended for users 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices

  • Marketing emails. Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email to opt out, or contact us.
  • Cookies and tracking. See the Cookies Policy for browser-level controls and Meta-specific opt-outs.
  • Access, deletion, correction. Email us at contact pending and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), gives you specific rights regarding your personal information.

Categories of personal information we have collected in the last 12 months.

  • Identifiers (email address, IP address, device identifiers)
  • Internet or network activity (browsing behavior on the Service)
  • Inferences drawn from the above (your personality patterns, as expressed in the Report)
  • Information you choose to provide as assessment context (gender, birth order, date of birth and the age derived from it)

Sources. Directly from you (assessment responses, email), automatically (device and usage data), and from third-party advertising partners (limited click identifiers).

Business purposes for use. Generating and delivering the Report, operating and securing the Service, communicating with you, improving the Service, complying with law.

“Sale” or “sharing.”We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If we add a Meta advertising pixel in the future, that use may be considered “sharing” under CCPA’s broad definition, and you would have the right to opt out.

Your rights as a California resident:

  • Right to know what personal information we have about you
  • Right to delete personal information we have collected from you
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information
  • Right to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising
  • Right to limit use of sensitive personal information (the Service does not use information in ways that trigger this right at this time)
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights

To exercise these rights, email contact pending. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests. To opt out of “sharing” for advertising (such as a future Meta pixel), you can use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in our footer, or set Global Privacy Control in your browser, which we honor as a valid opt-out.

Note: Automated GPC handling is currently being deployed. For the most reliable opt-out, please use the email path above. This page will be updated when GPC signals are honored automatically.

You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated through the Service when reasonable.
